Carhartt WIP AW12. Here’s the third and final installment in our series (Great British Seaside Attire). If you missed our first posts check them out here and here. In this post we went a bit “street” and chose the street wear brand Carhartt for the topic…
The Work in Progress line is based around the European urban culture scene that has its roots in street art, skating, BMXing and underground music. There’s a great skate park right on the beach here in South Shields that, over the years, has bred a creative scene of young lads who skate, play music and are in some way channeling their creative energies into something.
Essentially every image in this Carhartt WIP lookbook for AW12 could be found on the backs of these young men in and around the seafront. The UK seaside styles are at the heart of a lot of British fashion label’s collections and it’s great to see that it has captured the hearts of brands on an international level.
British coastal towns haven’t enjoyed such a level of cultural attention for many years, even if a lot of the interest is focused on the slightly depressing dystopian surroundings that have led to this unique form of fashion.
And there it is, our Great British Seaside attire has come to an end and hope you enjoyed our posts and the brands we chose. Make sure you check us out Be sure to leave your comments and you views on Great British Seaside Attire.
